Help Make Pride Happen at U of T
Join in the First U of T Pride Planning Meeting
Tuesday April 9, 2013
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Hart House South Dining Lounge
Students, staff and faculty across all three University of Toronto campuses are invited to join the Sexual & Gender Diversity Office to help plan Pride 2013 at U of T! Toronto Pride is an important time of year for the LGBTQ community to celebrate and work together with our allies to build change and raise awareness. U of T has a long history of recognizing Pride on campus, and in the community. We hope you can join us this year to help make Pride happen at U of T.
U of T’s annual Pride activities involve celebrating with a BBQ and dancing under the stars at the Pride Pub in the Hart House Quad and marching in the Pride Parade. At our planning meeting we will discuss these two marquee events, and other opportunities for Pride involvement.
We want to discuss:
- How will the U of T community participate in Pride activities?
- How can your student group, organization or department recognize Pride?
- What will be involved in the U of T 2013 Pride contingent at the Toronto Pride Parade?

Toronto Pride season is approaching and many already are gearing up for yet another year of celebrations of our LGBTTIQQ2S communities. As always, U of T will be part of this incredible event and we want you to be there with us. The Pride Toronto umbrella theme for this, its 30th year is YOU BELONG. In line with this theme, we'd like to let you know that YOU BELONG at the table for the U of T Pride Planning Committee!
The U of T Pride Planning Committee brings together LGBTQ students, staff, faculty, alumni and allies from all three campuses to plan and prepare for U of T's presence at Pride celebrations at the end of June and beginning of July. We are once again hosting the infamous Pride Pub at Hart House, in addition to a number of other events, including the community fair, the Pride Run and of course the annual Pride Parade.
Come out and get involved with the U of T Pride Committee. It's a great way to meet other queer and trans people on campus, get involved in student activities, and celebrate Pride in a place where YOU BELONG!
The first U of T Pride Planning Committee meeting will be at Hart House on Monday, May 3, 2010 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. We are looking for enthusiastic and creative folks to get involved; it's all about making sure that YOU BELONG at events, on the parade contingent, or as a volunteer/participant in the run/walk.
At our first meeting, we will address how the Committee will be structured and we will discuss ideas for events that folks are keen to get active on. Through collaboration we hope to unleash the most fabulous events for our communities and the larger Toronto community that U of T has ever hosted!
We will be keeping in touch via email and Facebook, so feel free to check out our Facebook group to connect with other Committee members and stay abreast of planning at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=15118074121
Come out, get involved and make sure that YOU BELONG at Toronto Pride 2010!
