Check out the Parade route and join us on the day for samba music and dancing all day.

Looking for somewhere to stay during Pride? U of T residences will be open and have competitive rates for a number of different suites at St. George campus.

UofT PRIDE Events 2010

We will not be stymied by the G-20 - and will show our Pride on all 3 Campuses. Lots of events and action for all to volunteer for and get involved. We are madly planning our look for the march and raising awareness on campus. Here's where you can come out and help.

The U of T parade contingent is coming together with the

Amazing U of T Engineers!  

Two options to hook up with the U of T contingent:
Rendezvous with a bunch of U of T folks/friends/pals in front of Java Jive Coffee & Tea 585 Church St. @ 1:00pm and we will line up for the march! Never been to Pride before? This is a good thing to do...we can all wander together.
Or
Meet up with the entire contingent on Bloor St...between Church & Jarvis http://bit.ly/dgAtkr No later than 1.30 p.m.

The U of T Truck will be located on Rosedale Valley Rd. (P3) if you want to meet there....that is possible too! No later than 1.30 p.m. map: http://bit.ly/dqvvBb

The U of T Truck and marching contingent will merge once the march/parade begins! So make sure you are there early. The march will start at 2 p.m. sharp!

The Samba Elegua Band will be drumming us throughout the parade! Making our hearts hammer as we Can't Contain OUR Pride no longer!

Pride Parade/March - Sunday, July 4th CAN'T CONTAIN OUR PRIDE
It's Going to be an interesting March this year! The big Kahuna! Where the LGBTQ community, allies, and people of differing sexual and gender backgrounds come to celebrate.
For 40 years, UofT has marched in PRIDE and this year, the UofT contingent presents the theme 'CAN'T CONTAIN OUR PRIDE'. We will be having a float and will be joining other universities and colleges in the march/parade.
The meet up is at 1:30pm on Rosedale Valley Road. Join the UofT contingent with your enthusiasm and pride. Come out and march...

The Pride Run is one of the most enjoyable, fun, delectable events of the entire Pride weekend. You can walk, run, swagger or zip along either the 3 or 5 km route beginning and ending at Church & Wellesley.  This is the event to join in for community during the Toronto Pride Festival.

Super amazing this year is the Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies is one of three charities selected to receive proceeds from the 2010 Pride and Remembrance Run. The proceeds from this annual 5K fundraising run/walk  will create two new endowed scholarships for LGBTQ students, one based on financial need and the other based on academic merit. Raise money for this event and contribute to the growth of scholarships for LGBTQ students at U of T!

Pride 2010

 

Toronto Pride season is approaching and many already are gearing up for yet another year of celebrations of our LGBTTIQQ2S communities. As always, U of T will be part of this incredible event and we want you to be there with us. The Pride Toronto umbrella theme for this, its 30th year is YOU BELONG. In line with this theme, we'd like to let you know that YOU BELONG at the table for the U of T Pride Planning Committee!

The U of T Pride Planning Committee brings together LGBTQ students, staff, faculty, alumni and allies from all three campuses to plan and prepare for U of T's presence at Pride celebrations at the end of June and beginning of July. We are once again hosting the infamous Pride Pub at Hart House, in addition to a number of other events, including the community fair, the Pride Run and of course the annual Pride Parade.

Come out and get involved with the U of T Pride Committee. It's a great way to meet other queer and trans people on campus, get involved in student activities, and celebrate Pride in a place where YOU BELONG!

The first U of T Pride Planning Committee meeting will be at Hart House on Monday, May 3, 2010 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. We are looking for enthusiastic and creative folks to get involved; it's all about making sure that YOU BELONG at events, on the parade contingent, or as a volunteer/participant in the run/walk.

At our first meeting, we will address how the Committee will be structured and we will discuss ideas for events that folks are keen to get active on. Through collaboration we hope to unleash the most fabulous events for our communities and the larger Toronto community that U of T has ever hosted!

A  movie by Parvez Sharma, it is the world's first documentary on the co-existence of Islam and homosexuality. The movie title takes Jihad- a word usually termed with a religious movement and negative connotations back to its roots-“struggle”, and depicts the struggle for homosexual love and Islamic faith.
