The Sexual & Gender Diversity Office offers supports to students in a range of ways from individual counselling, referrals to services, programming, as well as hosting space that students can drop-in. So if you have some questions or need assistance, this office is a good source to access! The Office is located at 21 Sussex Ave., suites 416/417, on the south west corner of Sussex and Huron Ave. Or email us to book a time. We look forward to seeing you.

You can also access a range of resources and services, initiatives and opportunities outside of the classroom, your department and or faculty. Because U of T is so big and decentralized it can be a challenge on a good day! Centre for International Experience

The Centre is here to serve international students coming to U of T and domestic students looking to go abroad.

Community Safety Office

The Office responds to all personal safety concerns by addressing the complaint, assessing the personal and community safety risks, providing a continuum of intervention options that the complainant can explore in order to address their personal safety concern(s), presenting information about the particular issue experienced, co-creating a safety plan, referring and working in partnership with various offices in order to address the individual's personal safety concerns.

Sexual & Gender Diversity Office

The Office is dedicated to and works towards addressing discrimination based on sexual and gender diversity. Through the provision of resources, education and consultation the office is a support and a resource to students, staff and faculty within the learning and working communities at the University.

Student Life

The Office of Student Life is dedicated to connecting students to opportunities for co-curricular engagement and learning, developing student leadership and building an inclusive and vibrant community on campus.

University of Toronto Sexual Harassment Office

The Sexual Harassment Office handles complaints of harassment based on sex or sexual orientation at the University of Toronto. Sexual harassment is unwanted sexual attention or unwanted emphasis on your sex or sexual orientation. It includes any unwelcome pressure for sexual favours, any comments, gestures or other conduct which places an offensive focus on the sex or sexual orientation of another person, and any gender-based conduct that is directed at you and that creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive working or learning environment for you.


Centres for Community

First Nations House

First Nations House provides culturally supportive student services and programs for Aboriginal students and the general university community, including academic and personal counselling, financial aid information, housing, daycare, employment referrals, tutoring, a resource centre, and numerous cultural events throughout the year.

Multi-Faith Centre

The Multi-Faith Centre exists to support the spiritual well-being of students, staff and faculty and to increase our understanding and respect of religious beliefs and practices. It does so by providing opportunities for members of the community to reflect, worship, contemplate, teach and learn, read and study, celebrate, mourn, engage in dialogue and interact on a daily basis.

Hart House

Hart House has great spaces to relax, to read, to listen to music, to study ....to just be. Boasting a full service Athletics Centre, the Arbor Room (great food at fair prices), a renowned art collection, Hart House Theatre, a hair salon, catering and event planning, and a beautiful farm, Hart House offers a broad range of services, activities, events, programming and involvement opportunities.

Career Centre

The Career Centre offers a variety of services to help students with the career development process. Services include 24 hour online access to thousands of part-time, full-time, summer and volunteer job postings, resource library, resume clinic, personal counselling, career exploration programs and workshops on topics such as conducting an affective employment search, writing proper resumes and preparing for employment interviews.

University of Toronto Work-Study Program

The Work-Study Program provides students with an opportunity to meet financial needs and gain practical experience during the school year. The Career Centre has created various work study positions for UofT students to engage in meaningful work experiences, develop valuable skills and participate in peer-to-peer learning opportunities.


Health and Well Being

Health Services

The multidisciplinary team at the Health Service offers U of T students and their partners the same services as a family doctor's office, and more. We provide confidential, student-centred health care, including comprehensive medical care, travel education, immunization, counselling, and referrals.

Counselling and Psychological Services

Students dealing with personal matters such as, difficulties adjusting to university life, anxiety, depression, shyness, relationship problems, sex and gender concerns, disturbances resulting from abuse and assault, prolonged stress, and other personal difficulties can speak with a professional counsellor at CAPS. 


Academic Resources

Accessibility Services

Accessibility Services provides services and programs for students with a documented disability, be it physical, sensory, a learning disability or a mental health disorder. Students with a temporary disability (i.e. broken arm or leg) also qualify. Services include alternative test and exam arrangements, note-taking services, on-campus transportation, adaptive equipment and assistive devices and skills development.

Queer n' Trans Students at the Front of the Class!

There are so many ways to get involved in the LGBTTIQ2S communities on and off campus. So many people to meet and so many events to go to! We know! We just want to say that while it is great to be really busy outside of class, in your college, with your group or organization... it is also extrelmely important to stay focussed on assignments, go to class, expand your academic skill sets. Access your college learning and writing centres, develop habits that include the library, speed reading, focussed research! Time management skills, limit procrastination via Facebook, MSN etc. Queers 'n Trans at the front of the class - will give you greater options for your future!

University of Toronto Academic Success Centre


The Academic Success Centre is dedicated to making sure you achieve your highest possible learning potential. Through lectures, workshops, groups, counselling and online, the ASC helps students become better learners. The Centre is open to students at all levels, and has specialized programming for both undergraduate and graduate students. Staff members at the ASC also collaborate with student groups, staff members and faculties to develop tailored programs on a wide range of learning topics. 

Writing at the University of Toronto

Writing Centres (sometimes called Writing Labs or Writing Clinics) provide free individual and group instruction in the many different kinds of writing done by University of Toronto students. You can work individually with a trained instructor to develop your ability to plan, organize, write, and revise academic papers in any subject.

Sexual Diversity Studies Awards and Scholarships

This page lists the current and past awards offered to students by the Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies and the Sexual Diversity Studies Program. The Sexual Diversity Studies Program awards scholarships and bursaries using a variety of criteria including (but not limited to): academic achievement, community involvement, extracurricular activity and financial need.

Diversity in Medicine

Diversity in Medicine is a student organization in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto dedicated to addressing issues of gender, race, ethnicity, culture, faith, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, and any other facet of diversity that interacts with health, medicine, and medical school.

LGBTOUT

LGBTOUT stands for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Trans People of the University of Toronto. We are an officially recognized group at the U of T for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, transsexual, queer students, and others who are marginalized on the basis of their sexual orientations and/ or gender identifications. We have been fighting for queer rights and visibility for 40 years! LGBTOUT offers spaces to explore our diverse identities both socially and politically, where people can develop a wide range of skills and learn more about our communities.

LGBT Dance

LGBT Dance at UofT Is Toronto's nonprofit queer Latin dance club. Since 2002 we have been providing a welcoming queer-friendly, gender neutral environment for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgendered, queer people & queer-friendly straight people to learn how to dance.

OUT in Law

Out in Law is a group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, transsexual and queer people and their friends at the Faculty of Law. Involvement is very flexible and confidentiality is always respected. Some people limit their involvement to being on our e-mail listserv, while others take a more active role in attending social gatherings and planning events.

Rainbow Trinity

Rainbow Trinity is a social support group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, transsexual, queer students and allies at Trinity College. We seek to create more positive spaces for queer members of the College and to promote equity within Trinity. We will host events that foster an open and friendly environment throughout the academic year. Rainbow Trinity is dedicated to the celebration of diversity and to fighting heterosexism, sexism, transphobia, lesbophobia, biphobia, homophobia and all other forms of discrimination.

Rotman Commerce Pride Alliance

The Rotman Commerce Pride Alliance is important to the commerce community because we are the only group that promotes diversity and equity with a particular focus on LGBTQ issues. In addition we are the only group of our kind operating in an undergraduate business school in Canada. Through our various events and initiatives we provide students invaluable educational, professional development and networking opportunities.

Sexual Education Centre

At SEC we're thinking about, talking about, and informing you about everything to do with sex, sexuality, and sexual health. We offer free safer-sex supplies, educational talks and workshops, peer counseling, in-print and online resources, an engaging, non-judgmental social space and a series of fun, sex-positive events throughout the year. 

Vic Pride

VicPride! is an LGBTQ club at Victoria College at the University of Toronto. We exist to give students of all sexual orientations and gender identities a safe space to meet, discuss, and have fun!

Women and Trans Centre

The Centre exists as a drop-in space for University of Toronto students and community members to hang out, meet, learn, and share experiences in a safe, anti-oppressive and communal environment.

 

Mississauga Campus Groups

OUT@UTM

Out@UTM is a group of people from diverse backgrounds who want to make a difference at UTM. Students started this group looking to establish a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer base and support network.

The Sexual Education & Peer Counselling Centre

(S.E.C.) is a student run organization whose goal is to provide U of T students with education and resources about healthy sexuality. UTM S.E.C. provides a non-judgmental, objective approach when education and counselling people about the diverse issues of human sexuality and is welcoming to all backgrounds and sexualities.

 

Scarborough Campus Groups

SC.OUT

The collective consists of students of all ages, colors, genders, ethnicities, and sexualities. SC.OUT provides a safer space that supports and environment of inclusion, support, and community. There is a great drop-in space at Scarborough campus called "the Lounge". You can find the lounge in B Wing B 336. 

Rainbow Lunch

LGBTQ & Allies - Let's EAT Lunch together on Tuesdays! Meet in the H Wing Cafe (look for the Rainbow flag on the wall! Tuesdays from 11:30 - 1:30.

 

Educational Resources

The Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies

The Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies offers an undergraduate program, a collaborative graduate program (M.A. and Ph.D.), hosts academic and community events, and promotes research into sexuality. It is a hub forging connections among faculty, undergraduates, graduate students, and community members interested in questions about how we understand sexual diversity and sexual practices.

Sexualities Online Queer Journal

Academic journal that focuses on sexual and gender diversity, cross-disciplinary, as a field of study.
